Questions we get asked

45 or 60 degree set square?

A 45 degree set square gives you 45, 45 and 90 degree angles, for square corners and diagonals. A 60 degree one gives you 30, 60 and 90, for hexagons and isometric drawing. Most technical and school work needs both, which is why we sell them as a pack.

What is an adjustable set square used for?

Drawing any angle without reaching for a protractor. You set the angle on its scale, lock it, and draw along the edge, which makes it quicker for roof pitches, ramps and repeated angles.

Why do set squares have a bevelled edge?

The bevel lifts the drawing edge just off the paper, so ink from a technical pen doesn't creep underneath and smudge.

Bow compass or standard compass?

A bow compass sets its radius with a central wheel and holds it, so it's best for accurate or repeated circles. A standard hinged compass opens quickly for larger circles. Ours draws up to 300mm across, and the large bow compass goes further with its extension beam.

Can I use a pen in a compass?

Yes, with the large bow compass. It comes with a pen adapter as well as spare leads.
